Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has delayed debt payments of Egyptian companies and individuals worth EGP 1.8 trillion for six months, the CBE’s governor Tarek Amer said in a TV interview.
However, the interest will still accrue on loans, Amer added.
The CBE also dropped lawsuits against about 220,000 citizens who are in default on their loans, he noted.
He further revealed that the central bank supported the Egyptian bourse with EGP 20 billion.
